Oh my god, if you’re looking for a short, brutal, heart-pounding horror experience that sneaks up on you and leaves you drenched in sweat (and maybe a little gore), Bloodwash is it. This giallo-inspired indie gem from Puppet Combo had me screaming my lungs out during my Twitch stream, and after playing through it, I can confidently say it’s one of the most disturbing horror games of the year-hell, maybe ever!
The Setup: A Nightmare in the Laundromat
You play as Sara, a pregnant college student stuck in a rundown apartment with her deadbeat, alcoholic boyfriend who—surprise—hasn’t done the damn laundry. So, late at night, she heads to the sketchy laundromat down the street. But this isn’t your average spin cycle. A vicious serial killer known as the Womb Ripper is stalking the city, targeting pregnant women like Sara. The tension starts building immediately with that classic PS1 low-poly vibe, grainy VHS filters, and an atmosphere so thick you can feel the damp, musty air.
It’s point-and-click survival horror at its grimiest: explore the laundromat, solve simple puzzles, hide, run, and pray you don’t get caught. The story unfolds through environmental storytelling, creepy notes, and voice lines that hit just right. No hand-holding here—it’s raw, relentless, and over-the-top gory in the best way.
Jumpscares That Will Destroy You
Let’s talk about what Bloodwash does best: the jumpscares. They’re phenomenal. Not cheap pop-ups, but perfectly timed, context-driven shocks that had my heart leaping out of my throat. Hobo Joe? That hairy bastard got me GOOD-I was legit shaking. And the Womb Ripper himself? Every encounter ramps up the dread until you’re yelling at your screen. I swear, I thought I was gonna die IRL from the adrenaline.
The atmosphere is intense. Hand-sweating tension builds in the shadows, with gore splattered everywhere. It’s graphic, it’s visceral, and it sneaks up on you when you least expect it. Play in VHS mode for that extra gritty, retro filter-pure nightmare fuel.
Why Bloodwash is a Perfect 10/10
I loved every aspect of Bloodwash. It’s tons of fun, super replayable in different modes, and clocks in at just a few hours—perfect for a late-night scare session. If you want a horror game that delivers non-stop thrills, gore, and that “what the fuck just happened” rush, grab it now on Steam or itch.io. You won’t be disappointed.
Rating: 10/10 – Disturbing Horror Game of the Year!
